Clam Dip

3 ounces of cream cheese
1 can of minced clams
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 cup of sour cream
a few drops of Tabasco
a few drops of Worcestershire sauce

Soften the cream cheese and mix well with all the other ingredients. Be careful not to add too much Tabasco or Worcestershire since it could mask the delicate clam flavor. Serve with chips, crackers or raw vegetables.

You can add a few chopped nuts for a crunchy taste or just a little bit of finely chopped celery or green pepper for more texture. Use shrimp or even crab meat instead of clams. Add some canned condensed soup, undiluted, to emphasize the flavor and stretch the dip. For instance, some cream of shrimp soup would be good even with clams.
