| | Cabbage with Bacon & Dill
1 small head cabbage 6 slices of bacon 1 small onion 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/4 teaspoon of pepper 1 teaspoon of dillweed or 3 dill leaves chopped fine
Wash, core and slice the cabbage. Set it aside to drain. Fry the bacon slices crisp and set them aside. Slice the onion fine and brown it in the bacon fat. Add the salt, pepper and dill. Last, add the drained cabbage. Cover, and simmer over a low heat until the cabbage is tender, about 1 hour. Add water if needed during the cooking. When the cabbage is tender, remove it from the pan to a serving dish. Garnish with the bacon slices. Makes 4 or more servings |
