| | Baked Sweet Dumpling Squash
2 sweet dumpling squash or acorn squash, about 3 pounds 1/4 teaspoon of salt 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine, cut into small pieces 1/4 cup of firmly packed brown sugar
Cut squash in half crosswise, remove seeds. Place squash, cut side down, in a shallow baking dish or pan. Add water to dish to depth of 1/2 inch. Bake at 375ºF. for 30 minutes or until tender. Drain. Turn squash cut side up, sprinkle with salt. Dot with butter and sprinkle brown sugar equally into each cavity. Bake at 350ºF. for 10 minutes or until sugar bubbles. Serve immediately. 4 servings |
