| | Light Nut Brownies
1/4 butter or margarine, softened 1 cup of all purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon of salt 2 eggs 3/4 cup of packed light brown sugar 1 cup of chopped walnuts, divided 1 teaspoon of vanilla 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour Chocolate frosting
In a large mixing bowl, cream butter. Gradually add 1 cup flour and salt, blend well. Spread the batter in a greased and floured 9 inch square baking pan. Bake at 350ºF. for 15 minutes; cool. In a small bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light. Stir in 3/4 cup nuts, vanilla, and 2 tablespoons flour. Spoon over cooled crust. Return to oven. Bake at 350ºF. for 15 minutes. Cool in pan. Spread with chocolate frosting. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup nuts. Cut into squares.
Chocolate Frosting 1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips 1/4 cup of light corn syrup 1 tablespoon of water
In the top of a double broiler, melt chocolate chips over hot but not boiling water. Blend in corn syrup and water. Makes 3 dozen |
