| | Wilted Cabbage Salad
1 tablespoon of sugar 2 tablespoon of white vinegar 2 tablespoons of water 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/8 teaspoon of pepper 2 slices of bacon 1/4 cup of chopped onion 1/2 medium cabbage, shredded, about 4 1/2 cups 1 Red Delicious apple, cored and finely chopped
Combine the first 5ingredients, set vinegar mixture aside. Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp, remove bacon, reserving drippings in skillet. Crumble bacon; set aside. Cook onion in reserved drippings over medium heat, stirring constantly, until tender. Stir in vinegar mixture; bring to a boil. Add cabbage and apple, tossing gently to coat. Cover and cook 5 minutes or until cabbage is wilted. Sprinkle with bacon and serve immediately. 4 servings |
