| Amish Friendship Bread
Starter: 1 cup of flour 1 cup of sugar 1 cup of milk
Keep in jar. Do not refrigerate. when it begins to ferment, begin following these instructions; Day 1: The day you receive the starter, do nothing. Do not refrigerate at all. Day 2, 3, 4: Stir. Day 5: pour starter into large bowl and add 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of milk. Stir Day 6, 7, 8, 9: Stir Day 10: Add 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of milk. Stir. Pour in 1 cup of dough into different containers and give to friends with these instructions to give away two and keep one for yourself. To the remaining dough add: |
2/3 cup of oil 3 eggs 1 cup of sugar 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla 1 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 2 cups of flour 1 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
Mix and pour into 2 well greased and floured loaf pans or muffin tins. Bake about 50 minutes for the bread and about 20 minutes for the muffins at 350ºF. Leave in pan 10 minutes to cool. You may leave the bread plain or add raisins, nuts, coconut, apple, etc. and instant pudding mix.
