1 3/4 cup of flour 3 tablespoons of sugar 2 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder 2 teaspoons of grated orange peel 1/3 cup of butter 1/2 cup of raisins 1 egg, slightly beaten 4 to 6 tablespoons of half & half 1 egg, slightly beaten
Orange Butter
1/2 cup of butter, softened 2 tablespoons of orange marmalade
Heat oven to 400ºF. In medium bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and orange peel. Cut 1/3 cup butter into flour mixture until it resembles fine crumbs. Stir in raisins, 1 egg and just enough half and half so dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead lightly 10 times. Roll into 9 inch circle; cut into 12 wedges - or cut with cookie cutter. Place on cookie sheet. Brush with beaten egg. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. In a small bowl combine orange butter ingredients. Serve with scones.
