Sour Milk Biscuits

3 cups of flour
4 teaspoons of baking powder
a pinch of soda
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of shortening
1 1/2 cups of sour milk or buttermilk
Melted butter



Sift the dry ingredients together into a bowl and cut in shortening. Stir in the sour milk. Turn out onto a floured board and knead well. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place on a well greased baking sheet and brush with butter. Bake in 450ºF.  oven until golden brown. 2 dozen
