1 1/2 cup of flour 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour 3/4 tablespoon of baking soda 3 tablespoons of shortening 3 tablespoons of honey 3/4 cup of water |

Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add honey, then water. Mix by hand. Knead for a bit. Divide and roll into 4 balls and flatten. Cut a shallow cross through the top. Bake for 10 minutes at 350ºF. on a cookie sheet. Unleavened Bread 6
1 cup of whole wheat flour 3/4 cup of white flour 1/2 teaspoon of soda 1 1/2 tablespoon of oil
Combine the dry ingredients, cut in the shortening. Add: 2 1/2 tbsp. honey Mixture will be gooey. Put into two 9 inch pie tins or 1 large cookie sheet. Bake at 350ºF. until toothpick comes out dry (start checking after 12 minutes).

1 1/4 cup of whole wheat flour 1/4 cup of unbleached flour 5/8 cup (5 oz.) of lukewarm water
Mix and form a dough. Dough will be stiff so don't use too much flour on the board. Knead dough about 6 minutes. Form into a ball and cover with a damp cloth from getting a dry crust. Let stand 5 minutes. Roll 1/4 inch thick, cut with a glass and put on a cookie sheet. Bake in 350ºF. oven for 16-17 minutes. Don't over bake. Store in refrigerator. |
