1 pound of flank steak 1 medium potato 2 recipes pie pastry 1/3 of small rutabaga 1 1/3 tablespoons of suet 1 onion salt and pepper
Cut the steak into small cubes. Dice the onion and rutabaga and chop the onion coarsely. Mix these well with the steak and suet and season with salt and pepper. Roll pastry into 4 pieces the size of dinner plates and divide the mixture equally in the center of each pastry. Bring 2 sides together making a tent and leave a hole in the center for steam to escape. Seal by crimping. Bake in an oven preheated to 425ºF. for 15 minutes. Reduce the heat to 375ºF. and cook for 45 minutes.
Add herbs and other vegetables like diced carrots and celery to the meat mixture. Use ground meat but remember to season well.
