Chinese Recipes

 

Chinese Sweet Sour Pork

1 pound of raw lean pork
2 green peppers
3 slices of canned pineapple
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons of cornstarch



Cut pork into cubes, dip into mixture of 1 beaten egg, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, and fry in deep fat. In a separate pan, heat 1 cup of canned chicken broth, 1/2 cup of juice from pineapple, 1/4 cup of vinegar, 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sugar. Thicken with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch which has been made into smooth, thin paste with a small amount of water. Cut and simmer green pepper squares in hot water for 5 minutes.
Add pork, pineapple chunks, 3/4 cup of sliced water chestnuts and green peppers to sauce. Serve over plain hot rice or Chinese fried rice. Serves 8 for single recipe. Slivered almonds also add glamour.
