6 cups of all purpose flour, sifted then measured 4 1/2 cups of granulated sugar 3 3/4 teaspoons of baking soda 3 teaspoons of baking powder 9 tablespoons of instant nonfat dry milk solids 2 cups of vegetable shortening, preferable butter flavor Crisco
Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder together in a large bowl; add dry milk solids and mix thoroughly. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until the consistency of corn meal. Store mix in a container with a tight-fitting lid. Makes 14 1/2 cups, enough for 3 two-layer cakes or up to 72 cupcakes.
