Corn Bread from Scratch

 

Corn Bread from Scratch

1 1/4 cups of flour
3/4 cup of yellow cornmeal
1 cup of sugar
4 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 egg, beaten slightly
1 cup of milk
1/3 cup of melted butter or oil 




In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the center. Pour the egg, milk, and butter into the well. Mix into the dry mixture until just moistened. Pour  the mixture into a greased 2 quart mold. Cover with a plate. Place on a trivet or rack in the bottom of slow cooker. Cover. Cook on HIGH 2 - 3 hours.
