Low Calorie Miniature Meatballs

1 pound of lean ground beef
1/2 cup of dry bread crumbs
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1 tablespoon of  oil
1 garlic clove
1/2 cup of  chopped onion
1/8 teaspoon of salt
one 6 ounce can of unsalted tomato paste
1 1/2 cup of water
1 teaspoon of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of basil
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of oregano

Combine beef, bread crumbs and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Shape into 24 small meatballs. Place meatballs on a rack and bake, uncovered in 425ºF.   oven for 20 minutes, or until they are brown. Cook onion and garlic in oil in large skillet. Add remaining ingredients to skillet, stir well and add meatballs. Cover and simmer over low heat for one hour, stirring occasionally. Remove garlic clove. Serve over cooked spaghetti noodles for main dish, or spear on toothpicks for an appetizer. Makes 4 servings. Each equals approximately 250 calories.
