Oriental Pork

2 pounds of ground pork
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
1/2 cup of water
one 13 ounce can of chunk pineapple in unsweetened juice, drained (juice reserved)
1/3 cup of soy sauce
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 medium green peppers, cut in strips
one 8 ounce can of sliced water chestnuts
2 tablespoons of chopped green onion



Lightly brown ground pork in large frying pan, drain fat. Sprinkle with salt. Combine cornstarch and ginger: blend  in water, add to meat. Stir reserved juice, soy sauce and garlic into meat mix. Cover and cook slowly for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in pineapple, peppers, chestnuts, and onion. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender crisp. Serves 8
