Blond Brownies

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 cup of butter, softened
3/4 cup of firmly packed dark brown sugar or a mixture or brown and granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 egg
1/2 cup of chopped pecans
1 cup of semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 375ºF.  sift the flour, salt, and baking soda together into mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla together until smooth; add the egg and mix until smooth. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture, beat well after each addition. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips. Spread the batter in a greased 8 inch square baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown. cool in pan, then cut into squares. Makes 16
