Burgers
2 pounds of lean ground steak 2 onions, finely
chopped 1 ounce of fresh white bread crumbs 1 egg, lightly
beaten 1 1/2 teaspoon of finely chopped fresh thyme salt
and pepper
To serve
6 sesame seed baps 2
tomatoes 1 onion lettuce leaves mayonnaise mustard
tomato catsup |

Preheat the barbecue grill. Place the steak, onions, bread crumbs, egg,
and thyme in a large glass bowl and season to taste with salt and
pepper. Mix thoroughly using your hands. Using your hands and a round
bladed knife, form the mixture into 6 large patties.
Cook the
burgers over hot coals for 3 - 4 minutes on each side. Meanwhile, cut
the baps in half and briefly toast on the barbecue grill, cut side
down. Using a sharp knife, slice the tomatoes and cut the onion into
thinly sliced rings. Fill the toasted baps with the cooked burgers,
lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and onion rings and serve immediately with the
mayonnaise, mustard and tomato catsup. Serves 6
