Hamburger Casserole  

2 onions, chopped
1 pound of ground beef
8 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of salt
a dash of pepper
4 ounces of sea shell macaroni
1/2 pound of sharp cheese, grated
one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
one 8 ounce can of mushrooms



Brown the onions and beef in 4 tablespoons of butter; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes. Cook the macaroni; drain and toss with 4 tablespoons of butter. Place in a 2 quart casserole. Add a third of the cheese to meat; stir until melted. add half a can of tomato sauce and half a can of mushrooms to meat. Pour meat mixture over macaroni. Add the remaining mushrooms and tomato sauce. Top with remaining cheese. Bake at 400ºF.  until the cheese melts. Makes 4 - 6 servings
