Hamburger Roll Ups

Filling:
1 medium onion, sliced
1 tablespoon of shortening
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
4 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 cup of beef bouillon, stock or milk

Brown onion in shortening, add ground beef and brown well. Sprinkle flour over meat, blending thoroughly, add seasonings. Add bouillon, stirring constantly until gravy thickens. Cool. 6 servings

2 1/2 cups of sifted flour
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
5 tablespoons of shortening
3/4 cup of milk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening, add enough milk to make a soft dough. Roll in rectangular shape to 1/4 inch thickness, spread with cooled hamburger filling. Roll as for jelly roll and cut in 1 1/2 inch pieces. Place cut side down, in greased baking pan and bake at 400ºF.  for 25 - 30 minutes. Serve with catsup or a cream sauce. If preferred, make a mushroom or tomato sauce by combining a can of condensed soup with 1/2 cup of milk. 6 servings
