| | Broiled Fruit Kabobs
8 slices of turkey bacon, halved 16 ( 1 inch) fresh pineapple chunks 1 large Granny Smith apple, cored and cut into 24 (1 inch) pieces 3 tablespoons of maple syrup 1/2 cup of firmly packed light brown sugar 1/8 teaspoon of ground allspice
Partially cook the bacon in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.. Drain and pat dry with paper towels. Curl bacon around pineapple chunks, arrange alternately with apple pieces on 8 (12 inch) wooden skewers. Place skewers on rack of a broiler pan and brush fruit with maple syrup. Combine brown sugar and allspice, sprinkle over fruit. Broil 5 1/2 inches from heat ( with electric oven - door partially opened) 2 - 4 minutes or until bacon is crisp. Serve immediately. Yield 8 kabobs
