Cheesy Meatball Pie

1 pound of ground beef
1/2 cup of quick-cooking oats
3 tablespoons of chopped onions
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 cup of tomato sauce
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon of oil
1 tablespoon of flour
dash each of cayenne pepper and garlic powder
1 tablespoon of butter, melted
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
1/2 cup of grated American cheese
6 strips of crisp-cooked bacon, crumbled




Combine the first 8 ingredients in a bowl, mixing well. Shape into 48 balls and brown in oil in skillet; drain. Stir flour, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder into butter in saucepan, blending well. Stir in milk; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute. Stir in Parmesan cheese, and cook over low heat until cheese is melted, stirring constantly. Place meatballs in the pie shell and pour sauce over the meatballs, distributing it evenly. Bake at 375ºF. for 25 minutes. Top with American cheese and bacon. Serves 6.
