Russian Meat Balls

1/2 cup of dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup of milk Basic-Recipes.com 9/19/06
1 pound of ground round steak
1 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 tablespoon of margarine or butter
1 tablespoon of finely chopped onion
2 pinches of ground cloves
2 pinches of ground nutmeg
1 1/2 tablespoon of flour
2 beef bouillon cubes
1 cup of water
1 cup of sour cream

 

Soak the bread crumbs in milk. Combine the meat, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, pepper, soaked crumbs, butter, cloves, nutmeg and onion. Shape into tiny balls and brown on all sides in a small amount of salad oil. Remove from skillet. If there is not about 1  1/2 tablespoons of drippings in the pan, add butter to make up this amount. Add flour and bouillon cubes to drippings. Brown slightly; stir in water, sour cream and remaining salt. Cook until thickened. Return meat balls to sauce and simmer, covered for 10 minutes. Makes 6 -8 servings
