6 large apples 6 tablespoons of bread crumbs 6 tablespoons of dark brown sugar 2 tablespoons of margarine or butter, melted 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg 2 tablespoons of raisins 1 1/2 cup of boiling water
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Wash and core apples; arrange in greased 9 x 9 x 1 3/4 inch baking dish. Combine remaining ingredients, except water; use to fill apples. Pour boiling water around apples (use more if necessary to make 1/2 inch deep). Bake 50 minutes or until tender, basting with syrup in dish. Serve hot or cool with whipped cream if desired.
