Chinese BBQ Ribs

One  2 1/2 pound slab pork spare ribs
3 tablespoons of  Hoisin Sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon of  paprika; optional
2 tablespoons of catsup
1 tablespoon of  sherry
3 tablespoons of  honey or plum sauce
1/8 teaspoon of  five fragrant spices; optional
Dash of MSG, optional

Split ribs partially on the membrane side. Spread the mixture on both sides of ribs and let marinade stand overnight. A zip lock bag or glass covered dish works well. Roast on rack at 350ºF. for 1 hour. Slice to serve.
