Flank Steak Broil

2/3 cup of catsup
1/2 cup of water
1/3 cup of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of celery seed
2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon of cracked or coarsely ground black pepper
a dash of bottled hot pepper sauce
1 1/2 pounds of flank steak, scored

For marinade, combine all ingredients except steak. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Pour over steak in shallow baking dish, let stand in refrigerator several hours or overnight, spooning sauce over occasionally.
Broil steak over hot coals for 5 minutes, turn and broil 5 minutes more or until done. Cut very thin slices diagonally across the grain. Serve on buttered, toasted buns. Heat marinade and pass. Makes 6 servings
