| Apple Charlotte 6 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1/2 cup of brown sugar grated rind and juice of 1 lemon 8 thinly cut slices of bread, buttered sugar to sprinkle |
| Preheat oven to 350ºF. Place a layer of apple slices in bottom of buttered, 5 cup charlotte mold , sprinkle with brown sugar, lemon rind, and lemon juice. Cove with layer of buttered bread. Repeat layers until dish is full, finish with layer of buttered bread. Cover mold with greased waxed paper, bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Turn out of mold if desired, sprinkle with sugar before serving. Serves 5 - 6 | |
