one 16 ounce jar of herring fillets 1 cup of sour cream 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice 1 medium onion, finely chopped 1 teaspoon of salt 1/2 teaspoon of pepper 2 medium unpeeled apples, cored and diced
Drain herring and cut into bite size pieces if necessary. Whip sour cream until it stands in soft peaks. Blend sour cream with herring and remaining ingredients. Toss to blend well. Chill before serving. Serve on lettuce leaves if desired. Makes 6 - 8 servings
