Liver & Apple Casserole

1 pound of calves liver
2 medium onions, sliced
6 slices of bacon
4 ounces of  butter mushrooms
1 teaspoon of dry mustard
2 ounces of  fat
1 ounce of  flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 1/4 cup of water
2 medium apples
1 teaspoon of dry mustard

Cut liver into thin slices. Mix flour, salt, pepper, mustard together and coat liver. Brown liver in heated fat. Grease casserole dish. Fill in layers liver, sliced apple, slice onion then mushrooms. Top with bacon. Add water, cover and bake at 350ºF. for 1 1/2 hours, removing lid for last 20 minutes. Serves 4.
