Baked Macaroni & Cheese

2 cups of elbow macaroni
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of  butter
3 cups of sharp cheese
White sauce

Cook macaroni and place half in a greased 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with salt and part of grated cheese; repeat. Pour white sauce over casserole. Dot with butter. Bake at 375ºF.  for 30 minutes covered, then uncovered for 15 minutes.




Baked Macaroni & Cheese

1 1/2 cup of uncooked macaroni
1/4 cup of butter
1/4 cup of  onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of  pepper
1/4 cup of flour
1 3/4 cup of  milk
8 ounces of  shredded cheese (cheddar)

Cook macaroni according to directions and set aside. Sauté butter, onion, salt and pepper until onion is tender. Blend in flour. Cook over low heat (stirring constantly) until smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in milk and heat until boil (constantly stirring); boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in cheese (until melted). Put drained macaroni in 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Stir in cheese sauce.

TOPPING:
1/2 stick of butter
1 1/2 cup of bread crumbs
Salt, pepper and garlic powder

Sprinkle over the top and bake at 375ºF.  for 30 minutes. Very good!
