6 tablespoons of butter 6 tablespoons of all-purpose flour 2 cups of milk 1/2 cup of heavy cream 1 teaspoon of salt Pepper to taste |

Melt butter in saucepan. Add flour; stir with a wire whisk. Add milk gradually; cook, stirring vigorously until mixture is hot, smooth and thickened. Add heavy cream, salt and pepper. Taste for seasonings. Remove from heat. |
