Sauerbraten Pot Roast

3 - 4 pound  square cut rump roast
2 tablespoons of fat
One 16 ounce can of  tomatoes
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of  vinegar
2/3 cup of chopped onion
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 teaspoons of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ginger
1 bay leaf

Brown meat. Add rest of the ingredients. Bring to a boil and then simmer 3-4 hours or until tender. Remove meat and thickens broth. Serve with mashed potatoes, noodles or rice.
