Sourdough Biscuits >

Sourdough Biscuits 1

1 package of dry yeast
1 cup of warm water
6 cups of self-rising flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of shortening
2 cups of sour milk

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add milk and yeast mix. Cover and refrigerate until cold. Roll out on floured surface; cut. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 450ºF. 


Sourdough Biscuits

2 cups of flour
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup of shortening
2 cups of starter

Sift dry ingredients into a bowl. Cut in shortening as for regular biscuits. Stir in starter until well blended. Turn dough onto lightly floured board and knead very lightly. Cut into biscuits. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes at 400ºF.  Watch carefully as they burn easily.
