2 cups of all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1/2 teaspoon of soda 1 teaspoon of salt 1/3 cup of butter or margarine 1/2 cup of prepared sourdough starter 1/2 cup of (about) buttermilk |
| Mix first 4 ingredients in bowl. Cut in butter. Add sourdough starter and enough buttermilk to make a soft dough. Knead a few turns, then pat or roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with floured 2 1/4 inch cutter, put on baking sheet and bake in very hot oven (450ºF.) for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 1 dozen. Sourdough Biscuits
1 package of yeast 2 cups of buttermilk 3/4 cup of oil 4 teaspoons of baking powder 1/4 teaspoon of soda 6 cups of flour 1/4 cup of sugar 2 teaspoons of salt
Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water in bowl. Mix in remaining ingredients. Chill, covered in refrigerator. Roll on floured surface. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake at 425ºF. for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Back to Sourdough Recipes |
