Steak & Onions

1/2 cup of dry red or white wine
1/4 cup of soy sauce
a dash of garlic powder
4 beef cube steaks, about 1 pound each
1 large onion, sliced and separated into rings
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of cooking oil

In a large shallow baking dish, combine wine, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Arrange steaks in a single layer in the baking dish, cover and marinade at room temperature, about 45 minutes. Or marinate in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 hours. In a large skillet, cook and stir onion in hot butter over medium high heat for 4 to 5 minutes or until tender. Remove from skillet, keep warm. Drain steaks. In the same skillet, cook steaks in hot oil over medium high heat, turn and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more or until done. Serves with onions.
