Marilyn's Coconut Valentine Cake

one 18 1/2 ounce package of white or yellow cake mix
one 1 pound can of cherry pie filling
one 7.2 ounce package of fluffy white frosting mix
one 7 ounce package of flaked coconut




Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour 2 heart layer cake pans. Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Divide batter between prepared pans. Bake layers 30 - 40 minutes or until a wooden pick poked in center comes out clean.
Cool in pans 10 minutes. Invert, remove pans and completely cool layers on wire rack. Place bottom cake layer on serving plate. Spread with 1 1/2 cups pie filling. Top with second cake layer.
Prepare fluffy white frosting mix and frost sides and top of cake. Coat cake completely with coconut. Use remaining 1/2 cup of pie filling to make heart shaped design on top of cake. Makes 1 (2 layer) cake 8 - 10 servings
