Steak Stroganoff

1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon of cooking oil
2 beef cubed steaks or sandwich steaks
2 tablespoons of flour
2 tablespoons of cooking oil
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/4 cup of dairy sour cream
one 12 ounce can of mushroom stems and pieces

 

In a skillet, cook and stir the onions in 1 tablespoon of oil until tender, about 4 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside. Coat the steaks with flour. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in same skillet, cook steaks over medium heat, about 4 minutes on each side. Sprinkle with salt. Place the steaks on warm platter or dinner plates. Drain the fat from skillet. Add the onion, sour cream and mushrooms, with liquid to skillet, heat, stirring occasionally. Serve the sauce over steaks. Makes 2 servings
