THANKSGIVING FEAST PUMPKIN BREAD

2 2/3 cup of sugar
2/3 cup of margarine (or butter), softened
4 eggs, beaten
1 pound of can pumpkin
2/3 cup of water
3 1/2 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
2/3 cup of  chopped walnuts (optional)
2/3 cup of chopped dates

Cream sugar and margarine until fluffy. Stir in eggs, pumpkin and water. Sift together dry ingredients. Gradually stir into pumpkin mixture. Add nuts and dates. Blend well. Pour into 2 greased loaf pans. Bake at 350ºF.  for 1 1/2 hours - check sooner if springs back - it's done.
