Artichoke Hearts Au Gratin

two 9 ounce packages of frozen artichoke hearts
1/4 cup of butter or margarine
3/4 teaspoon of salt
a dash of pepper
1 teaspoon of onion salt
1/4 teaspoon of dry mustard
1/3 cup of all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup of grated Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon of fine dry bread crumbs
paprika

Cook artichokes as directed on package. Drain: reserve 1/2 cups liquid. Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in seasonings and flour. Gradually stir in artichoke liquid and milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. remove from heat. Stir hot sauce gradually into egg and half of cheese. Blend well. Put artichokes in a layer in greased shallow baking dish. Cover with sauce. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, crumbs, and paprika. Bake in preheated oven at 450ºF., about 15 minutes. Makes 6 servings
