| | Spicy Baked Beans
2 cups of pea beans 1 bay leaf 1/2 cup of white sugar 2 tablespoons of brown sugar 3/4 cup of chopped onion 2 teaspoons of dry mustard 1 teaspoon of prepared mustard 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce 2 cups of canned tomatoes 1/4 teaspoon of pepper 1/4 cup of butter
Cook beans according to directions on package, add bay leaf. drain, reserving bean water. Combine sugars, onion, mustards, Worcestershire sauce, tomatoes, and pepper. Add 1 1/2 cups of bean water. Pour into greased covered casserole. Dot with butter. Bake 6 - 8 hours in 250ºF. Add more water if beans becomes dry. Uncover for last hour of cooking. Serves 8 |
