Broccoli with Black Olives

1 bunch (about 1-1/2 pounds) fresh broccoli, trimmed
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 clove garlic, chopped fine
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1/4 cup of small black olives, pitted and cut into small pieces
3 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese

Parboil the broccoli about ten minutes in a small amount of salted water.  Drain.  Heat the oil, add the garlic and sauté until lightly browned.  Add the broccoli and season with salt and pepper  Cook slowly over low heat ten minutes.  Add a little of the water in which the broccoli was cooked if the pan gets too dry.  Add the olives and heat two minutes longer.  Serve immediately sprinkled with the grated cheese.
