Stuffed Cabbage in Tomato Sauce

12 large cabbage leaves
1 pound of beef round, ground
1 cup of cooked rice
2 tablespoons of finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon of caraway seed
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1 egg
2 1/2 tablespoons of cooking oil
Two 8 ounce cans of tomato sauce
1/4 cup of water



Steam the cabbage leaves, trim thick part of ridge. Combine the remaining ingredients except the oil, tomato sauce and water, spoon the mixture onto leaves. wrap and tie with string. Lightly brown cabbage rolls in oil, add tomato sauce and water. Simmer, covered, for 40 minutes. Makes 6 servings
