Christmas Red Cabbage 3

1 head of red cabbage
1 tablespoon of butter
pepper
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups of hot water
2 apples, sliced
4 whole cloves
1 tablespoon of vinegar
2 tablespoons of raspberry or currant jelly



Slice the cabbage. Heat butter in saucepan. Add cabbage, pepper, nutmeg, sugar and onion. Sauté until soft. Then add hot water, apples, cloves and vinegar. Cover and cook slowly until tender. Once tender, top with currant or raspberry jelly.
