Green Peas & Drop Dumplings

2 1/2 cups of shelled fresh green peas, cleaned (about 2 1/2 pounds unshelled)
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon of salt
a dash of pepper
1 cup of all purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons of milk

Combine peas, water, butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Set aside.
Combine flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt, mixing well. Add eggs and milk, stirring with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.
Return peas to a boil, and drop batter by tablespoonfuls into boiling peas. Cover immediately; reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Yield: about 6 servings
