Pumpkin Fig Loaf

3 1/4 cup of  flour
1/2 teaspoon of  baking powder
2/3 cup of oleo, room temp.
4 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
1 1/2 teaspoon of orange peel
2/3 cup of orange juice
1 cup of snipped dried figs
2 teaspoons of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 2/3 cup of granulated sugar
One 16 ounce can of pumpkin
1 cup of chopped nuts




Heat oven to 350ºF.   Mix flour, baking soda and baking powder and salt. In large bowl beat oleo, sugar, eggs, pumpkin pie spice, orange peel. Blend well. Turn mixer on slow and beat pumpkin, orange juice and flour mixture. Add figs, nuts and mix until blended. Put this in 2 (8" x 3 3/4") foil lined loaf pans. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until pick is clean. Cool on racks. Makes 2 loaves.
