Raisin and Almond Rice

3 1/2 cups of unsalted chicken stock
1 1/2 cups of long grain rice
1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
1 1/2 cups of raisins
1 cup of slivered almonds, roasted
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) of butter
2 teaspoons of dark brown sugar

Bring stock to a boil in a heavy saucepan. Stir in the rice and salt. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes. Stir in the remaining ingredients into rice. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes to blend the flavors. Serve immediately. Makes 10 servings
